Fall is that magical time of year when you start putting away your “light,” “sheer,” and “neutral” makeup for the deep colors of fall. Or maybe that’s just me. I like to have a distinct difference between my makeup each season, even if it’s just a color palette, or a change in foundation. My skin changes from season to season (no, day to day), so I have to be on top of what it’s doing and needing, plus I just like to switch it up. Keeps things interesting.

So here are the top fall 2015 makeup trends from last season’s New York Fashion Week, as they are exactly a season ahead of us. They are looking at spring right now, whereas those of us here in the US just aren’t doing spring right now. Maybe later.

Graphic Liner

Fall 2015 makeup trends: bold liner

It’s not going away any time soon, so get that liquid liner out and brush up on those cat eyes. Obviously the top photo is not for real life, just for inspiration. And the runway. That’s it. The bottom photo too. Don’t go thinking I’m encouraging this.

Peach Blush

Clockwise: Kate Spade; BCBG; and Michael Kors

If you have NARS’ Orgasm, now would be the time to break it out. This natural, warm shade will always be around in one form or another, but right now it’s bright and fun.

Bronze Eye Shadow

Top fall 2015 makeup trends: bronze shadow

Clockwise: Marchesa; Mara Hoffman; Zac Posen

Any metallics, really, but bronze really ruled the runways. It’s getting easier to find metallics out there, both in prestige and drugstore lines. Bronze also looks amazing pared with black liner, also a trend this season.

Red Lips

Top fall 2015 makeup trends: red lips

Clockwise: Philip Lim; Marchesa; Celine

They don’t ever really go out of style, but neutral is not getting any play this fall. Reds: bright berries, dark bordeaux, and deep classic red are all on point.

Have you seen any other fall 2015 makeup trends out there that you’re loving? I think you’ll keep seeing full brows and false lashes. Dark lips are going to make a strong showing but probably won’t last long – most people don’t like goth-like lips (although I think there is a time and a place for it and I kind of love the look). I also saw a lot of smoky eyes, although these were exceptionally well blended and weren’t always a smoky black/gray.

In celebration of all the cool makeup trends happening this fall, Measurable Difference is giving away a Measurable Difference Desert Nights Eyeshadow, a five-shade palette that ranges from light to smoky dark – great for those blended smoky eyes. The Measurable Difference brand was developed to help the everyday woman keep her youthful glow, and these colors will definitely match whatever fall palette you decide to rock.
