I might have mentioned before that I’m moving to Texas. I’m super excited about it, although I will miss the beach. But I’m moving to Dallas/Fort Worth, and listen, y’all, there is SO MUCH more to do there! I’m looking forward to doing some new things.
But before we can sell, we have some serious updating to do. We’ve lived in our house for almost 20 years, and we were so young when we moved in that we never really seemed to have a “grown up” house, even though dogs, kids, family came along. So we are kind of realizing that we lived like college students for a really long time and didn’t do adult things like remodel. So EVERYTHING is being remomdeled. My entire life. We replaced one bathroom completely, the otber is getting new fixtures and a paint job. I’m having every wall and ceiling painted. I’m putting on a new roof, I’m tiling my kitchen floor. I am redoing my hardwood floors. I’m doing some minor remodeling to my kitchen.
I am covered in dust.
I don’t know what exactly is in construction dust – probably something that causes mesothelioma or something awful. But after a day or two of people sanding everything in your casa, you can start feeling it in your chest. Everything is coated in white dust, and you just don’t even care.
But the worst is my eyes. I am so allergic to everything anyway and am constantly trying new and differet treatments for eye allergy, and all of it is because of my eyes. So during all of this nonsense, I’m carrying around of my best treatments for eye allergy symptoms:
- One of those silly white masks you put over your nose and mouth
- Safety glasses that make it hard for anything to get to your eye
- Visine A – allergy eye drops. These are probably as bad for you as Afrin nose spray, but omg it feels so good to be symptom free in 90 seconds.
- Intensive Youth Eye Gel by Radha Beauty – seriously. This gel is very cucumbery – it feels like a cucumber on, it smells like a real cucumber, and it feels AMAZING on puffy eyes. I’ll dab a bit on before I go outside to get some fresh air. WORTH IT.
Talk to me @retrodiva. Have you ever remodeled your house while still living in it? How did you do it? Did you have children? Did you have a spouse? I have a spouse, but I don’t know that I’ll have one after this remodel.
